We at Poppies feel that it's important to 'give a little back' so because of this philosophy we only use Fair Trade Coffee and Tea.
Our House blend is a blend of Fair Trade Brazilian and Columbian Arabica bean. The Columbian provides strength and flavour and
is then blended with a soft mellow plantation bean from Brazil.
We worked long and hard with the renowned
Master Roaster Clive McCabe to get it just right.
We hope you like it!
"All of our coffees are packed in re-sealable bags. Simply pull the bag apart at the top seam, remove the required amount of coffee,
and then carefully reseal the zipper to maintain your coffee in peak condition.
The valve on this bag allows the excess gas (naturally produced by the coffee) to escape, whilst not allowing air to enter,
therefore maintains the freshness of your coffee."
Buy the best beans or ground coffee that you can afford. Store the coffee in our unique re-sealable pouches, fitted with a
flavour lock valve. Make sure the pouch is completely sealed after use. Use freshly drawn water, from the mains supply.
Use water just off the boil. Use the correct grind- for
plunger pots/ percolators use medium grind and espresso machines use
a fine grind. We recommend 5 to 7 grams per cup, but experiment until you find the strength you like.
Drink as soon as possible after brewing. Do not reheat coffee.
Buy the best tea that you can afford. Use freshly drawn water, from the mains supply. Warm the teapot, this will help to keep the brew at boiling point for longer. Measure the tea according to taste, try one spoon per cup, and adjust as required. Pour the water onto the leaves immediately it reaches boiling point. Brew for five minutes to allow the leaves to infuse (stir after two minutes).
I have been eating at Poppies for a couple of years now and the food is always fresh and tasty.
I very rarely eat at home, so when I eat out, I always look for the home made flavours and this is why I find Poppies interesting.
Usually when me and my friends meet together, we like to eat something as well. Last couple of times we visited Poppies, cause the food was good and the atmosphere fostered conversation.
